How large are the class sizes?The student ratio is always 1:10 students. For class sizes larger than 10, the Growing Learners moderator will help facilitate the lesson. Classes are intentionally designed with the whole child in mind. Developing good communication skills, such as asking deeper questions and student participation is important. There will be good amount of interaction among peers and the educators. A strong sense of a learning community will be achieved.

How do I prepare for the lessons?Upon registering for a class, you will need to email growinglearners1@gmail.com your name and address so that a science kit to your house. There may be additional materials needed for children to gather from home to use their creativity to engineer a product. The Growing Learners team will communicate any changes or additional materials needed. An estimated of 10 minutes prior to class is needed to help your child lay out the materials.

How long will the sessions be?Each webinar is 1 hour long. The last 10-15 minutes are designated times for students to share their work or ask questions.

What happens if my child misses a class?By signing up for a thematic webinar of your choice, classes will be inputted into your personal student dashboard. Students will have an opportunity to replay the session if they missed it.

Why do we need to prepare and gather materials for each lesson?It is developmentally appropriate for children to cut, glue, print, and create. The development of their fine motor skills prepares them for school, even for older elementary students. According to Howard Gardner's Theory of Multiple Intelligences, children have various forms of learning. Each thematic unit incorporates STEAM based learning and the use of materials is cruical to achieve our learning goals.

After trying out your session, I told my friends about your program. Can they still sign up?"There will be a sign up deadline for each thematic webinar to make sure Zoom links and material lists are sent in a timely manner. If a class is in high demand, our team may open another live week of sessions.
